Evening With Nikki

post-nikki

So Nikki and I hung out Saturday evening and had a great time. We always do have a great time when we hang out together. It was a last minute thing but it was nice seeing her and the kiddos. We met up at Joann’s and just walked around. I was looking for a cutting mat for my Silhouette but they didn’t have it.

After that, we were hungry and decided to head on over to Little Madfish. I had a bento box and Nikki agot shumai, takoyaki, and a popcorn scallop roll. Everything was delicious. After dinner, we headed to Tapioca Express and got some boba of course!

We weren’t quite ready to go home at this point (it was around 10PM), so we decided to go to Target and walk around. I had been wanting some Flairs for a while so I picked some up and can’t wait to start using them. I love hanging out with her and the kiddos and hopefully we can do it again soon! I still want to check out Sno-Crave with her.

What did you do this weekend? Hope you had a great time!

A Wonderful Experience

post-experience
I work full time at an infant and toddler daycare center as the office manager. I also am a certified preschool teacher. It’s amazing getting to see the children come in as babies and leave as 3 year olds. However, last year something happened that changed my life. The director of the daycare and I are really close. She is like a second mom to me and was there for me in ways that I can’t even thank her when my dad passed. She had been granted custody of her 3 grandchildren in October of 2013 (ages 1, 2, and 3). Last June, she was given custody of their twin sisters (who at the time were only 6 weeks old). She never hesitated when asked to take them in.

That day, she and I waited for hours after the daycare closed for the social worker to bring the twins over to our work place. When they got there, the director was in shock. She was talking with the social worker while I got the twins, changed their diaper, and got them ready to go home. They started coming to our daycare around August and getting to see them grow has been a wonderful experience.

Today, they turn one. I can’t believe how much they have grown and blossomed. Baby A just started walking last week just in time for her birthday. She is such a happy baby and loves being around others. Baby B is a bit more cautious but once she warms up to you, she is the sweetest baby. This past Sunday they had their birthday party and it was so fun. I have loved being apart of their family and having them let me enjoy this experience with them.

I have so much love for them that I can hardly imagine what it will feel like when I have my own children. I can’t wait for that.

Weekend Adventures

So Nikki of Boba + Pearls and I are really good friends in real life. I hadn’t seen her since our last meet up and we’ve been trying to get together for a long time. She recently had another baby so it’s been a bit harder to just meet up like we used to but we were finally able to on Saturday! It was a last minute thing but we definitely had fun. I finally got to meet baby brother and see Birdie again!

We started at Joann’s, walked to Home Goods/TJ Maxx, went to Panda Express for an early dinner, went to Old Navy, grabbed some boba, then went to Target. We were ready to call it a night but then decided to make a last minute trip to Michael’s. I’m so glad we went to Michael’s because I got this awesome planner (look out for a blog post on that). It was just a fun day spending time with Nikki and her kids and catching up.

Surprisingly, the only picture we took was of our boba. We were having such a good time that we didn’t take too many photos so we’ll have to save that for next time!
